#28 desktops need help handling Btrfs multiple devices
Opened 3 years ago by chrismurphy. Modified 3 years ago

There are some fairly confusing UI/UX problems with multiple device Btrfs on the desktop.

GNOME: btrfs multiple device handling
KDE: btrfs multiple device handling

udisks: how to handle Btrfs multiple devices on the desktop

In both cases, a single Btrfs file system made of three devices (which so happen to be raid1) appear as separate icons. And hilarity ensues as the user clicks on them multiple times each, such as would be the case when they wonder where there files are, because they don't appear when clicking on 2 of the 3.

Every time the user clicks, the file system is mounted an additional time (literally it gets listed in mount multiple times each, one for each click).

This is pretty cosmetic. But there are probably bugs related to ejecting such a file system; and even when connecting them one at a time.
