#926 Badge Request: Red Hat Summit 2024
Closed: pushed a year ago by gui1ty. Opened a year ago by evolze.

Badge description: You visited Fedora at the Red Hat Summit in 2024!

1) What are those activities?
- Visiting the Fedora booth or section at the Red Hat Summit in Denver, CO.

2) Who is doing them (are they packagers? translators? newcomers? veterans?
users? sponsors?)
- Attendees to the conference. Not sure if Fedora will be present at this year's Red Hat Summit.

3) Why are they doing them (is this a means to a different end?)
- To chat and engage in topics relevant to Fedora and Red Hat. Perhaps provide a QR code that links to the badge awarding site? Or whichever badge redemption method was utilized last year.

4) When do they do them (every day? once a year?)
- Once a year. This year, the Red Hat Summit is May 6 - May 9.

5) How do they do them (by talking in IRC? by running commands in the console?
by using a web interface?)
- By visiting the Fedora booth (if applicable and present).

Lastly, do you have any ideas for artwork concepts?
- Previous Year: https://pagure.io/fedora-badges/issue/905
- The artwork is modified for 2024.

Hi all,

Apologies if I'm a little ahead of the curve on submitting this request. I've seen in recent years, the badge for the Red Hat Summit is usually submitted around a month or two before the event, so I thought I'd create a request and see where it goes. 😄 This will be my first year attending the conference, so apologies if I submitted this a bit too soon.

Also, this badge request is all based on if Fedora will have a booth or be present at the conference this year.

No worries. Only question I have: Are you involved in organizing the Fedora presence at the conference? Usually it's one of the organizers requesting the badge and they will receive authorization on the badge (for awarding, QR-code, etc.)

Hi gui1ty, I am not, unfortunately. I will be an attendee. I wasn't sure how the process of event badging requests works, just thought I'd help by kick-starting the process if Fedora planned on being present. Not sure if this request should be closed or resubmitted by someone representing Fedora at the event. 😀

All in all, just an excited attendee that likely jumped the gun a little bit.

Going by past experiences I'm pretty sure there will be a Fedora presence of some kind at this year's event or another reason for having the badge. Also from past experience, organizers tend to be late with requesting badges.

All in all, I think it's okay to keep this ticket open. It gives designers plenty of time to submit a revised badge. We'll see who comes along requesting authorization.

Hi! Wow, thanks @evolze for being so on top of it with this request. Yes, it would be nice to have a Badge for this year. The event starts on Monday, May 6th. This is the latest time that we would need a badge online.

@chris @rolandixor @nekonya3 Is this something one of y'all could help us out with? See #905 for last year's design.

@riecatnor @duffy can someone review and approve?
