#776 badge for F33 cloud test day participation
Closed: pushed 4 years ago by nb. Opened 4 years ago by dustymabe.

Badge description (like "You wrangled the clouds for Fedora 33!"):

Help the badges team understand what this idea is all about. If this badge is
awarded for certain kinds of activities:

1) What are those activities?
- Participating in the Fedora Cloud Test day for F33.

2) Who is doing them (are they packagers? translators? newcomers? veterans?
users? sponsors?)
- community members??

3) Why are they doing them (is this a means to a different end?)
- to help us test the cloud images.

4) When do they do them (every day? once a year?)
- once a fedora release cycle.

5) How do they do them (by talking in IRC? by running commands in the console?
by using a web interface?)
- talking in IRC and reporting issues in the test day app: https://testdays.fedorainfracloud.org/events/96

Lastly, do you have any ideas for artwork concepts?
- something with a cloud??

To get started with designing badges, you can go through the Fedora Badges design guide here and an awesome workshop that @smeragoel ran on designing badges: here

And you can talk to the badges team at our Communication channels, here

Great, thanks a lot!

Hi @elladaniels really cute first draft! For your first attempt at a Fedora badge design this is great :) Happy to give you feedback.

  1. The badges are viewed at a small size. Right now your panda is very small, with a lot of little details that will be unreadable at a small size. I had suggested using the art from this badge: https://badges.fedoraproject.org/badge/unchained which would still work great. You could make the badger a little smaller and still have room for a cloud on the left hand side.

  2. For the cloud, I think it might be a bit too dark. Also, gradients are applied sparingly in badges if we can help it. One cloud would probably do the trick! Check out these two badges for examples of cloud designs, remember to keep it simple:
    https://badges.fedoraproject.org/badge/missed-the-train
    https://badges.fedoraproject.org/badge/meeting-of-the-minds

Looking forward to your next draft :) thanks!

Wow. These look great!

Not sure if we want to make it a generic badge we give out or if we want to version the badge and make a new one for every release cycle. If the latter then we'd want to put 33 on there somewhere maybe to indicate it was the F33 Cloud test day. Next time we can do 34, etc..

The second design has enough space on the bottom right to add figures. Will you like to see a design with 33?

Good work, @elladaniels :D

@elladaniels I don't know about others, but I like the grayish cloud with the highlights better. It looks more cloudy to me :D

Hey Viv, I also thought it was more 'cloudy' however there definitely not enough contrast between the sky and the cloud, which is why I changed the colouring.
Maybe there's another colour that would work better..?

Hi @elladaniels this is looking great!! I think the illustration part is perfect just the way it is :) Right now looking at this at a smaller size, the "f33" is a bit difficult to read. I think it will take a simple change, try styling the text like the tadpole badge. Instead of: magenta, pink, white, try: dark grey, light grey, white. This should make it more readable.

Thanks!

@elladaniels Looks great! Awesome cloud!
