Help the badges team understand what this idea is all about. If this badge is awarded for certain kinds of activities:
1) What are those activities? - IoT Working group, similar to Server, Cloud, Atomic or Workstation
2) Who is doing them (are they packagers? translators? newcomers? veterans? users? sponsors?) - Working group contributors including packagers, docs writers QA and many many more
3) Why are they doing them (is this a means to a different end?) - Making the new Fedora IoT Edition awesome!
4) When do they do them (every day? once a year?) - Regularly, depends on the contributors and it's evolving quite a lot
5) How do they do them (by talking in IRC? by running commands in the console? by using a web interface?) - varied
Lastly, do you have any ideas for artwork concepts? - Open to suggestions but please no burning toasters :-)

@pbrobinson - great idea! @mleonova and I discussed concepts and came up with the idea to create something similar to this: https://www.cerner.com/-/media/cerner-media-folder/us-blog-migration-images-16x9/the-internet-of-things.png but with a fedora logo in the middle and other pieces of badge artwork: package, koji symbol, badger/panda heads. To the artist who takes this badge: be sure not to make the elements too small :) keep it simple!

That over all concept for the IoT Edition/site looks fantastic! Not sure how to bring it down to a badge format, but for the IoT landing site it's a great concept!
@riecatnor Hey! Do we need something like this? I would love your feedback on it.

I like the design...

Hi @tanvi! We reviewed the badge at the meeting today and think this is a great start! Here's a couple suggestions to make it even better: - make the background light green, as in https://badges.fedoraproject.org/badge/famsco-member - reduce the number of elements (besides the Fedora logo) to a maximum of 4 - they are really tiny now, since there's so many - try making the lines dotted or thicker. Generally according to guidelines they should be about 1.5px or thicker
Looking forward to the updated design! :)
Hey @mleonova! Here is the updated design. Let me know if there are other changes! :D

Hi @tanvi! Cool, this is much better! Try working some more on those lines though - they are still pretty skinny.
@mleonova Here are the changes!

@tanvi, yay! Much better! Let's go for a less overpowering color and a few more connections now =)
I like the overall idea but I wonder what the best four connections should be.
Panda and Badger are good in how they are identifiable in the community.
The gift as a package is ok but not my favorite. I prefer the traditional opening box icon. What about something representing containers or podman? Or the package representation used in "the cat came back" badge. It also appears larger in copr build badges and smaller in appdata tributary badge. Even the modularity brick might work better.
Instead of 1st, how about a camera like from the wallpaper badges a chip like in the FEL member badge.
IoT is used for industry sensors, gateways, home automation, smart wearables, and anything in between.
Hi team, do we have any progress here? IoT will be promoted to an Edition soon, and it would be nice to have this badge ready to go alongside that.
@laubersm Hey! Thank you for the feedback. I'll get this started this week. Sorry for the delay!
@tanvi have you had a chance to work on this?
@bcotton Hey there! I tried making another iteration for the badge, but my Inkscape is giving me a lot of trouble changing vectors and exporting the files :( Is is possible that someone else can help with this? So sorry for the inconvenience :/
Is anyone able to help tanvi with this?
@riecatnor Peter reminded me that this request is still outstanding. Would this be appropriate for Outreachy applications?
Hey! I worked a bit on @tanvi's last design and tried to incorporate @laubersm's suggestions! @riecatnor thoughts?

Made some changes as @riecatnor suggested, and highlighted some of the elements. Let me know if this works! :D

Looks good to me. Thoughts, @pbrobinson?
I like the changes.
LGTM!
@smeragoel :D perfect. Setting to approved. Thank you and @tanvi for your efforts
Metadata Update from @riecatnor: - Issue tagged with: artwork - approved, ready to push
Thanks @smeragoel , @tanvi, and @riecatnor!
Note to whoever sets the badge up to push: award should be triggered based on membership in the "iot" FAS group. Current members: bcotton hopley jlinton jsmith mrizo pbrobinson pwhalen t1mj0n35 tdawson
Metadata Update from @misc: - Issue assigned to misc (was: tanvi)
It looks like the badge was never setup to use iot group membership for award. In the meantime, can someone please grant @pwhalen and @pbrobinson the ability to award it?

Commit 1245faf relates to this ticket
Even though most of these badges come with a yaml file, it turns out group membership badges are awarded by a cronjob, that maps FAS groups to badge ids. Unfortunately, that script was, until recently, failing on every run trying to do kerberos authentication.
That's fixed now.
