#596 SCaLE 16x Badge Requests
Closed: pushed 6 years ago Opened 6 years ago by lajuggler.

Badge description (like "You added a co-maintainer to a package. BFF!"):
Badges are a fantastic way to motivate contributors and to recognize activity. We'd like to propose a set of badges for the upcoming SCaLE16x conference.
Attendee, Organizer, and Presenter.
-

Help the badges team understand what this idea is all about. If this badge is
awarded for certain kinds of activities:
1) The badges would be awarded on an ongoing basis, but only once per user.

1) What are those activities?
Attendee, Organizer, and Presenter.

-

2) Who is doing them (are they packagers? translators? newcomers? veterans?
users? sponsors?)
Respectively for Attendee, Organizer, and Presenter: SCaLE 16x attendees, Fedora Helpers/Volunteers for Setup, ScALE 16x attendees
-

3) Why are they doing them (is this a means to a different end?)

For many reasons: to self-pace and learn this and learn new topics.

4) When do they do them (every day? once a year?)
Generally every day during the conference.

5) How do they do them (by talking in IRC? by running commands in the console?
by using a web interface?)
IRC

Lastly, do you have any ideas for artwork concepts?
Yes

We will only do attendee. We do not generally do Presenter and Organizer badges for anything other than Flock.

Hi @lajuggler ! Great start! Couple ideas on how to make it better:
- when exporting the png watch carefully the size of the image - it should be 256x256. You can see right now that svg is bigger.
- there's a set color scheme for event badges, and while I love the stars background, usually the attendee badge gets a grey bg: see event badges here. Feel free, however, to add any sort of pattern to it.
- try using the event logo https://www.socallinuxexpo.org/scale/16x - we could reach out to them or use vector skills to recreate it.

Looking forward to the updated version! Thank you :)

As this event is coming up shortly, I put together this badge for this event. @mleonova, thoughts?

@riecatnor it's great! What do you think about using the colored penguin, that @elixciel uses?
@elixciel could you please also upload the source file?

Awesome stuff, @riecatnor ! =) I think we're good to go!

@mleonova Please let us know the final badge claim link, as we will need to generate documentation here for people to claim their badge. Our event rapidly approaches. Thank you.

@lajuggler if you don't mind, we'll go with riecatnor's design, since it has the actual event logo. We'll try to get it pushed asap!

@mleonova: As the original submitter on this badge, I do mind a little as riecatnor had not consulted the SCaLE Fedora owner (@lajuggler) to discuss on design. Their submitted entry lacks a Fedora logo; our entry includes incorporates the Fedora logo and the SCaLE font.

@lajuggler as you can see here, the event badges usually have the event logos and don't have to feature the Fedora logo.

The image that you used is the graphic for Fedora planet, actually.
I think we could use it if you absolutely insist on it, but I rather wouldn't. I don't see why you are opposed to the penguin graphics.

@riecatnor what do you think?

I like @riecatnor's design. We don't usually have a Fedora logo on the event badges, they have the event's logo.
