@rodrigodearaujo, I like the concept, but I think that something has gone wrong with the badge. It should have a shadow around the outer edge, perhaps one of the objects in your file was deleted. Also it doesn't seem like the canvas size is correct, or the badge somehow got adjusted on it. Using the template without editing it in anyway, add in your @ symbol and please re-upload :) thanks

Hi, I know this is an older ticket, but passing through on a quick triage run this morning…

I am also curious here if we have a way to actually implement this badge. I know a lot of cool magic has been happening in the world of fedmsg integration into Mailman3, but I don't know if we have a way to actually check how many mailing lists a contributor has subscribed to. For a similar badge idea, you can see #441 (which is about making posts to a mailing list). That badge is under technical research as well because there are some blocker issues in fedmsg that make that one difficult to implement too.

I'm going to CC Ralph and Sayan to this badge to see if they could offer any clarification about if this is possible since they're more informed about it than I am. However, if they also confirm that this is not possible to track, I think we should close this ticket as not yet possible (even though it's an awesome idea and it would be a helpful badge, but I don't know if we have any way to make it actually happen in Fedora's infrastructure). :(

This behavior should be encouraged, so I think there is interest.

The hitch here is whether it can be implemented. If it can Id be glad to recreate the design @rodrigodearaujo proposed.

Your design is cute! Though unfortunately it doesn't fit the aesthetic/guidelines of Fedora Badges. Take a look at the page that shows all the badges to get a feel for what they should look like: https://badges.fedoraproject.org/explore/badges

So a couple specific pieces of direction/tips for you:
- use the templates found on the docs link I sent above. Do not change the template in any way except to add in graphics in the gray area in the center of the template.
- Reuse graphics that already exist! I think combining a badger/panda from a pre-existing badge with the "@" symbol could be nice :) maybe a piece of mail? (To find the pre-existing artwork, go to the page of that badge on the badges website. Under the badge artwork their is a field marked "Criteria:". This will bring you to the pagure ticket with the artwork)
- make sure you are exporting the correct size PNG based on the guidelines
- remember to upload SVGs and PNGs for review

I am just confusing with the Exporting measurements.I have tried for number of hours.It's not coming for me the exact measurement Thta's why I am sharing svg files here again.

Hi @nagamalli, download this template: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/badges/_attachments/templates/community-template.svg do not make any changes to the document size or badge template. You can open the template, save with a new name, import in your other artwork. When you export make sure to export a PNG, the page, at 256x256px 90dpi.

Your second draft is using the badge artwork which is great, though it is overcrowded. Think, simple :) What if we throw out the "@" and try something different. What about something like this with a nicely designed envelope? You can find the artwork at the second link.

Hi @nagamalli this is a big improvement :) A couple suggestions for you:
- the bubble that says "HI FEDORA" will be unreadable, it might make sense to incorporate into this badge design, but currently way too small.
- did you draw this envelope design? I think the use of gradients on it doesn't fit well with the badges aesthetic.
- we try to avoid using the logo as much as possible, and I don't think its mandatory to get across the concept here.
- I would suggest a more simplified version of an envelope, with a brighter background, and the "HI FEDORA" bubble above the envelope

@nagamalli I like that the envelopes are simpler! I want you to focus on the styleguide and the aesthetics of Fedora Badges as a project. Check out page 16: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/badges/_attachments/fedora-badges-style-guide.pdf Also you will want to keep the "background" referenced on page 2. Check out this page, it shows all the badges to get a better feeling for look and feel: https://badges.fedoraproject.org/explore/badges

Ways to make it fit badge style guide:
- put strokes on things of 1.5px or greater.
- remove the "a" symbol, I don't think it's working here
- keep the background object where badge graphics go, don't make another other changes to the template, either
- think simple, draw it just like this: https://badges.fedoraproject.org/badge/saucier-cookbook-iv
a white object with light grey outlines, give it that nice sunburst background too

Can you suggest me backgrounds do i need to keep for the below designs. Hope these will be fine. If these are not good can you suggest me the backgrounds.

Hi @nagamalli I think the white envelope with the blue background is the closest you've gotten yet :) Let's let just focus on that design.

• the fedora planet is too small, please remove that from the design
• It could be cute to place the "hi, fedora" bubble above the envelope (flip the bubble, not the text :)
• restart with the template file
• keep the stroke color solid, no gradient

It still looks like you have done something with the background piece in the middle, it looks too big and not centered. I would suggest restarting with the template. Do not make any changes to the template. A good way to think of badges is it is a cohesive set of artwork, created by many artists, so there are certain unifying elements that need to stay the same. The template is that element for badges :)

I have done the changes as suggested.....

I felt "HI Fedora" on the leaf was good as the Envelope size would be large.
I have also tried the Pop-up outside the envelope.

I have used Solid Colour for envelope instead of Gradient with 1.5 Stroke size.

My Bad!!! All this time I misread "DO NOT CHANGE THE TEMPLATE" which was suggested many time and kept on changing the colours. I was just thinking about the size and formats. I understood the pattern of each type of badges now.

Hi @nagamalli nice! These look much better. I like the alpha version best. Couple little tweaks to get it there:
- make the envelope a little bit smaller, this is to give it some space, right now it is cramped
- increase the stroke to 2.5 pixels, maybe 3
- increase the stroke on the speech bubble to 1.5 pixels
