#114 Change Complete!
Closed: Rejected None Opened 10 years ago by toshio.

What the badge should be granted for:

Note: I'm submitting this on behalf of jreznik (the Change Wrangler). He can help further refine the idea.

Award a badge for successfully implementing a Fedora Change[1]_ into a Fedora Release.

.. [1]_: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/Policy

Badge description (like "You added a co-maintainer to a package. BFF!"):

"Change Complete!" - You finished implementing a Fedora Change

Anything else we need to know:

Not sure if this can be done automatically. jreznik (the Change Wrangler) thinks he might like to do it manually with input from QA.

Ideas for (semi)automatic granting:
The Change pages have a Status section that links to a tracking bug. We could make the grant hinge on whether the tracking bug had no open bugs at the time of Fedora Release.
We could check the pages sometime after release. If the Change Wrangler hasn't moved the pages back out of Category:ChangeAcceptedF20 at that time, we'd consider it to have been implemented successfully.

We could also grant the change wrangler (jreznik) the rights to award the badge directly.

riecatnor and I discussed this one yesterday and agreed that we would reject it on the following basis:

  • we already have change process badges (for getting your change accepted)
  • doing this automatically would be hard (people could edit the wiki page to abuse the trigger)
  • we could instead give rights to the change wrangler to award this, but that introduces perhaps too much overhead on that role on top of what is already required of them.

Thanks for the idea toshio!
