A number of JSS methods returns error codes which often times are insufficient to troubleshoot problems. It would be better to throw exceptions which can show the actual error and the stack trace, but this might change the behavior of the methods.
bug created for this track ticket: Bug 1074208 - JSS certificate validation does not pass up exact error from NSS
Note: the subject of this track ticket "JSS should throw exceptions on errors" seems to be too broad to be handled in one single shot. I'm modifying it to match that of the JSS bug's subject since that was what triggered this ticket to be created. In the future, when other areas within JSS that required similar NSS error code pass-up, we will file them individually with reasonable scope.
This is needed to troubleshoot ticket #1697.
