#781 Artwork for default upgrade banner in Software
Closed: Fixed 2 years ago by aday. Opened 2 years ago by aday.

We need artwork for the upgrade banner that's shown in GNOME Software when a new major version of Fedora is available to upgrade to [1]. See here for what the default currently looks like.

The banner design is being updated to look something like this. That means that the background will need to be able to have dark text overlaid.

The default background doesn't necessarily need to be complicated - it could a simple gradient or texture. The text will likely have to be in Cantarell, which is obviously a bit limiting from a branding perspective.

[1] For Fedora, we've historically customized the artwork for each release. However, this hasn't always been reliable and we therefore want to ensure that there's a good Fedora-branded fallback graphic for cases where version-specific artwork isn't available for some reason.

The latest branded artwork I can find is the new slide templates. We could potentially use the same background here:

@duffy , any change I could get the source files for the presentation template background images?

That looks so good that I think we could safely use it for every release instead of messing around with release-specific backgrounds.

I know that contradicts the agreement we reached last week to prefer downloaded release-specific backgrounds and fall back to something generic only if no release-specific background is available, but last week we were comparing to mockups like this which are OK, but not nearly as nice as what you've got there now.

Sent svg banner mockup to Alan @aday
