#647 Infographics for marketing: Fedora Server
Closed: Fixed 4 years ago by duffy. Opened 4 years ago by x3mboy.

phenomenon

In the Marketing team, we want to launch a series of infographics, as we stated in design#614. The first one is great, and we want to continue with the idea.

reason

Explained above

recommendation

This is the idea:

Fedora Server

Fedora Server is a powerful, flexible operating system that includes the best and latest datacenter technologies. It puts you in control of all your infrastructure and services. Run applications on bare metal or the cloud with a Linux server OS packed with the latest open source technology.

Leading Edge

Fedora Server is a short-lifecycle, community-supported server operating system that enables seasoned system administrators, experienced with any OS, to make use of the very latest technologies available in the open source community.

Modularity

Choose the right version of an application or language stack you need and keep it even when your OS upgrades to a newer version.

Easy Administration

Manage your system simply with Cockpit's powerful, modern interface. View and monitor system performance and status, and deploy and manage container-based services.

Enterprise Domain

Level up your Linux network with advanced identity management, DNS, certificate services, and Windows™ domain integration throughout your environment with FreeIPA, the open-source domain controller.

It looks great. Wdyt @bt0dotninja @bcotton?

It will be possible to get one of the server guys to check if they like it?

Looks awesome , +1 to publish it without modifications

I love it. @sgallagh, what do you think?

@tatica this looks great! i love the combo of the grey artwork + bold headlines.

a few points:

  • I wouldn't brand it Fedora Marketing or have a separate Fedora Marketing Infographics mark. I would just brand it Fedora, or Fedora Server, bc it's meant to promote Fedora and Fedora Server.

  • I'd replace the Comfortaa in the footer with Montserrat.

  • It might be worth considering logos for modularity, cockpit, and freeipa. cockpit has some nice screenshots available too.

This is looking pretty good, but I'd like to make a few suggestions in addition to agreeing with everything @duffy said:

  • Can we get the Fedora Server logo in the header? Is this document meant to be limited-color, or can we use the orange logo? If not, the monochrome logo is fine too.
  • Replace the "Easy Administration" text with: "Manage your system simply with Fedora Server's powerful, modern admin console. Take control of your system's hardware and network configuration and manage container-based services." (Maybe massage that a bit; I'm not sure how best to say it). We should include the Cockpit logo somewhere, but in general we want to be the Fedora Server Admin Console (powered by Cockpit). You won't actually see the word "Cockpit" in the interface at all unless you go into the "About:" menu.

Hey all. Thx for the awesome feedback!

Changes:
Footer fonts (comfortaa -> montserrat)
Elements rearrange to show icons
Paragraph change
Header.

So I added a full version of the re-arrange layout, and on the right side you can see some combinations using the logo.

I did had problems finding the svg version, so I had to recreate, but we can fix that later.

Please, let me know what you think of this changes and thx!

That's the older Server logo. The newer one (see https://getfedora.org/server/) looks a little more like stacked building toy bricks (representative of how things fit together, including modules).

There's an odd line-break under "Easy Administration" after the first letter in "configuration".

Is there an svg version of it? The one I used got it from the official guideliness wiki page [1] but there wasn't either an svg version.

@tatica I assume there must be. @duffy probably knows where to find it.

@sgallagh the sources i have come with a "modular server" logotype -

Screenshot_from_2019-06-18_08-18-36.png

Should we be using this, or just the modular logomark with "Server" only as the logotype?

@tatica ^ once we figure this out I can email you the sources.

marking this blocked until we figure out the logo.

Drop "modular". It's no longer unique to Server Edition.

@sgallagh thanks!

@tatica i just emailed you the correct new Server Edition logo to use :)

Oki Doki, got the new logo and it's updated. Also used the color background (which I think it's awesome) and removed the background watermarks.

Please, let me know what you think.

If @sgallagh is ok, I consider this done

One last minor nitpick and I'm good with it. I think we should use the https://getfedora.org/server/ URL rather than https://getfedora.org/en/server/

This will result in the browser auto-selecting the preferred language for the user.

Looks great! Thanks for your hard work!

This looks awesome! Closing as fixed. Great work @tatica!
