Hey @mleonova could you help me with this? I know you're busy but I really need this before FLOCK
@algogator lemme ask you some additional questions:
Thank you!
@algogator lemme ask you some additional questions: where exactly is the logo going to be used?
where exactly is the logo going to be used?
On the website https://happinesspackets-stg.fedorainfracloud.org/
what sizes / shapes will you need?
Just 200 x 228 px for now
what colors are preferable?
I was going to say blue but I'm ok with anything from https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Logo/UsageGuidelines#Colors
why do you want to change the icon you have right now / what's your dissatisfaction with it?
Trying to move away from http://happinesspackets.io/ and make it exclusively for Fedora
what exactly should the logo say?
Fedora Happiness Packets
are there any similar projects that you are aware of?
http://happinesspackets.io/
any specific visual you have in mind?
I have attached a screen shot of the logo in the previous comments
anything else you'd like the design team to know?
Would love to have this before FLOCK :)

Thank you, @algogator for your replies! Here's a quick update of the WIP. I'm sketching some ideas - one is the cupcake idea we discussed at the Design team meeting. Another could be a lollipop with a gradient of Fedora brand colors, and the third one is to make this happy 'packet' :)
<img alt="happiness-scan.png" src="/design/issue/raw/files/6af5c7f833031ae3d30b8b3d1a97446731772ca1f723f352191375293289de1d-happiness-scan.png" />
I love the combination of the cupcake with the lollipop
@mleonova I think we'll be going with the cupcake or packet :)
@algogator soo.. I've been working with the cupcake idea and I'm putting it on the screenshot right away. I created a couple versions of the logo + icons to go on buttons. Also please use Fedora approved fonts on the website: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Logo/UsageGuidelines#Fonts
@duffy how liberal cen we be with the Fedora logo? I would love to put it on a cupcake, but if that's not possible, I'd go for the smiley face + fedora bubble shape.
I'm open to suggestions.

Adding all icons together:

At this point I'm not sure we wnat to introduce another color.
They all look so good!
@mleonova :heart_eyes: they look lovely, great job, thank you :smile:
@algogator I'm attaching the logo as is, since I assume you need it asap:

Let me know if you also need something for the button, too!

For the icons, I like the fedora cupcakes! 2,3 and 5
@algogator ok, cool! I like them, too :) But let me check with @duffy on whether we can go in that direction.
@algogator @jonatoni hey, what's the current status of the happiness packets site?
@mleonova re: the logo designs - the fedora logo versions you created are 100% OK IMO. My only critique here is in context, the 'fedora' is much louder than the 'happiness packets' - i think the script font makes the 'happiness packets' text extra quiet. The alignment in that left blue nav area looks a bit weird too in the screenshot and on the live website. (https://happinesspackets.fedorainfracloud.org/) Maybe a left alignment of the text would work better, and if the fedora logo is in the cupcake you could drop the upper right f attached to the logo type. that might help?

Hey @duffy I guess besides the logo and the badge design, we wanted general feedback on the site itself.
Blue not being an appropriate color for happiness packets and all :)
Reference for the badge ticket: https://pagure.io/fedora-badges/issue/627
@mleonova is it ok if we open this up to others to tweak the type? the mark is perfect!
@duffy @mleonova Hi, I'm helping as a mentor for the fedora-happiness-packets project for the upcoming Summer Coding cycle. I can act as a point-of-contact for this ticket.
Is anything left to finish the logo other than the type?
Hi, is there anything I can do to help this ticket move forward?
Metadata Update from @duffy: - Issue assigned to terezahl (was: mleonova)
@jflory7 hey @terezahl is going to be taking a look at finishing this one off.
@duffy Super, sounds great! @terezahl, let me know if I can provide any info to help the design process. :raised_hands:
@duffy @jflory7 hey, I have a few questions. Should we use the new Fedora logo? @algogator wanted some feedback on the website as well. Is that still something that needs work? Thanks.
@terezahl for now stick with the existing logo. it should be an easy swap if we get the legal approval in the meanwhile.
@duffy @jflory7 I made the text more left aligned and used the happiness packet font from https://www.happinesspackets.io/ website, so it has something in common with it and goes with its design. The second version has the 'f' on the cupcake. Let me know which one you think is better. <img alt="happiness_packets_logo01.png" src="/design/issue/raw/files/85550ed6d6e94d07cf30bac9345fc3e8bc68137a4ed8f958bc165086ab599409-happiness_packets_logo01.png" /> <img alt="web01.png" src="/design/issue/raw/files/9f297a86d8b4d41aa06dae0b0a446bb1a3adae9930af69ed5b04894b19c48e1e-web01.png" /> <img alt="happiness_packets_logo02.png" src="/design/issue/raw/files/549c433f8b7b8aa86836a1b2aae613521750d8ecc53a03870edda4c1712ecdbc-happiness_packets_logo02.png" /> <img alt="web02.png" src="/design/issue/raw/files/f81479ef04fcfb8cdcd360a73901a3b1bab5ff4d5f3bf3b9d80061766dbf977c-web02.png" />
@terezahl I prefer the cupcake w the fedora on it... but the overall balance seems off. I wonder if you can do a center align version with the cupcake in the middle and maybe the happiness packets text bent around it?
@algogator wanted some feedback on the website as well. Is that still something that needs work?
For now, no. We might need feedback later but we can open a new ticket when we are ready for it.
I also liked the cupcake with the Fedora logo on it, but I agree with @duffy's feedback on balance too.
FYI: @shraddhaag @alishapapun @jonatoni @bt0dotninja @anxh3l0
@duffy @jflory7 here it is. <img alt="happiness_packets_logo.png" src="/design/issue/raw/files/996d6c62551c543734e49e44ab26c17b3c654459fa7635799fdeef58248dbf49-happiness_packets_logo.png" /> <img alt="web.png" src="/design/issue/raw/files/302d7e44c97a1caff333cc686d21937ff29dc604a9d93595abe082fdda829e7a-web.png" />
@terezahl i like where this is going! I'm sorry to be a pain - the readability is a little unconventional with the lower wrap + script font (and I see how you've adjusted to make it work better, but I wonder if theres a better solution.)
A few ideas, would you be willing to try any?:
I was giving a thought regarding the logo, I was thinking if instead of a cupcake if we could use an envelope signifying a message and some doodles like a smiling emoji signifying the "Happiness" in Fedora Happiness Packets, that would really be good. I have drawn a rough sketch of I am picturizing . Would love to hear from you all :) <img alt="WhatsApp_Image_2019-04-12_at_9.26.45_PM.jpeg" src="/design/issue/raw/files/d96a3c346cd5f0de6e9d940f0c5049763fb951eee035aa4f6f7ae999b46ce5d3-WhatsApp_Image_2019-04-12_at_9.26.45_PM.jpeg" />
@duffy I tried all of your suggestions. I think the second and third went the best. I like the first logo more because I think it's more dynamic. Also, the readability should be better as it's less bend than the previous one. What do you think?
<img alt="happiness_packets_logo01.png" src="/design/issue/raw/files/4237eab9d287937f155c1a8911616eaf5f8994e5a100d2f40555963ac4ada583-happiness_packets_logo01.png" /> <img alt="happiness_packets_logo02.png" src="/design/issue/raw/files/403686c4d2843b616c1cf7d1214b6135fb1caf3f0f23c363c0dbe1e0243597d8-happiness_packets_logo02.png" /> <img alt="web01.png" src="/design/issue/raw/files/cafc658f7117600019d388fd94855973f2c4bad87ed10751a454b71b59aeb6ff-web01.png" /> <img alt="web02.png" src="/design/issue/raw/files/daeb55e3297d2accaf37e5a2bd12397a9fb4a17f44727430350be43e6880d975-web02.png" />
If it is worth anything, I do like the idea of using an envelope like @alishapapun suggested, since it is more relevant to our application's purpose and maintains unity to the upstream project. The cupcake is cute but I don't think it clearly communicates what the project's purpose is.
I'm jumping in late to the design process and I realize this has been through a few iterations already. But it would be great to communicate our application's purpose through the project logo if possible. Upstream provides an Adobe Illustrator envelope design licensed under a free software license if it helps to use that as a base.
@terezahl I agree, that would be my choice as well - enough bend to be dynamic but not too much so still quite readable!
@alishapapun @jflory7 So I think we are agreed it's bit late at this point to change the base design, and I'll state why I think it also might not be the best idea:
We initially did some sketches that were envelope based for this design (I think based in late June or early July 2018, but I can't seem to find the logs for those meetings), but I seem to recall the feedback we got at the time is that they were too generic and not very "Fedora" - so the concept of the cupcake came from trying to symbolize "a small gift / token / celebration of someone's work in Fedora." We wanted it to come across clearly as a gift, and a positive thing - envelopes and envelope icons can be associated with other things like email clients, junk mail, bad news. Part of the idea of cupcakes came from the Fedora IRC cookie gift system which is a nice conceptual tie-in with an existing Fedora kudos system - for example: https://badges.fedoraproject.org/badge/macaron-cookie-i
We already have badge artwork using the base cupcake design completed and in the badge ticket system. That would have to be redone if we changed the concept.
We've based the design for Fedora appreciation week (which I think is meant to be recurring each year, but not sure) on the happiness packets concept - where a packet is a cupcake, appreciation week is a cake. See https://pagure.io/design/issue/615
@duffy here's the svg file
<img alt="final-logo.svg" src="/design/issue/raw/files/ffc2ff7c13281855b0e5f1e0344500530adb546d9fd7cff45a5120e5709b58c7-final-logo.svg" />
Oops, I forgot to reply. Thanks @duffy for the thought-out reply. This works for me then.
Is the attached SVG in the ticket final?
@jflory7 yes, it's final.
In triage today, closing this since it seems it's done. Please feel free to reopen / comment if not.
