New Fedora Edition
The Fedora Council approved a new Objective
Similar to Workstation/Server/Cloud we're going to need artwork and colour schemes etc for the IoT Edition for landing pages and downloads etc. I'm also already being asked for Hex stickers, I'm not sure if sticker designs go under the same ticket due to theme or go elsewhere.
When this is triaged if a new person doesnt pick this up, Id be happy to take this on as I already said on twitter!
I also took a look at the websites ticket and while that is more my forte, im more than willing to help here!
It's got to be something like this, right?
<img alt="IoT-graphics.png" src="/design/issue/raw/files/d4ebe41b0f758b28b30a305877cca0ee064588faf5fd51577b7d3c99614b07dd-IoT-graphics.png" />
A little bit similar to Sayonara player logo imho https://sayonara-player.com/
what do the 3 !!! represent? I kind of feel it feels like a warning
@pbrobinson whats the deadline for this?
@pbrobinson -- IoT is a little alarming, right? ;)
You could also build on the existing shapes for workstation and server -- just have more of them something like this:
<img alt="IoT2a.png" src="/design/issue/raw/files/b9c32cb79e74fb0005f83a2e1ca851d10b72cce51af877615caa812bb0f7314a-IoT2a.png" />
The other thought I had (yet to implement) was to maybe have a two server shapes and two workstation types, but give them eyes and/or antennae (like cute little robots, brand new baby robots exploring the web for the 1st time). May look too much like android or cyanogenmod though.
Thoughts?
Well my point is that the Fedora interpretation of IoT is not meant to be.
I was actually going to suggest we do a matrix on 9 squares (or 16) rather than the 3 exclamation marks, I feel the above two likely will be a little busy and not scale down well, especially the top right.
The aim is to be an official Edition by F-29 (although that might slip) but would like an IoT (on another ticket) landing page before then.

We will have a "spins" style unofficial release well before then though, hopefully soon after F-28 is GA with nightlies RSN

More like this then?
<img alt="IoT2matrix.png" src="/design/issue/raw/files/cb5449cc469e2948b4f7288abb959e1e736171f3ca4994349ce2c7557f340d14-IoT2matrix.png" />
It will be important (I think) to keep everything clean and symmetrically balanced.
I think so, I think it's less alarming and shows scale better, I'd be interested in other people's views/ideas
Agreed
Can IoT break the boundary?
<img alt="IoT3matrix.png" src="/design/issue/raw/files/512382f2f783fa2bbe121af24064e04513a2e3519566a077d82b2dfadcccc1c8-IoT3matrix.png" />
Here's another three variations on that theme.
I'm trying to figure out what message is actually intended to be sent by the IoT release (and it would be helpful to know). On the one hand, my brain is telling me to think about this from the perspective of many things -- so there are all sorts of different things, and there are lots of them, and it's a little chaotic (sort of the below).
On the other hand, should this graphic be focused at the specific things an actual person (e.g. you) might do with Fedora IoT―the end states? If that's the case, then we could perhaps have small representations of the end-state things (e.g. home automation, small circuit boards, routers, etc.)
I watched through a portion of the pitch for a Fedora IoT here, but I'm not sure how much it's mission or focus has evolved since then.
At any rate, some quick thoughts/variants from "the one hand" below:
<img alt="iot-3vars.png" src="/design/issue/raw/files/507c5ed12cab9b249aced58c3c696a70dc0edcd1309e3e50bdbbe37e58dec798-iot-3vars.png" />
@kylerconway I think i like the 2nd one best in terms of relating to the other editions logos. the most recent mockups above i think depart too much from the existing visual style.
i'm not sure what exactly conceptually we should be doing here other than showing multiple 'things' though? going to do a bit more research and see.
@duffy -- just uploading the svg here.
