#476 [Diversity Team] Pagure-friendly icon
Closed 6 years ago Opened 7 years ago by jflory7.

  • '''Deadline''': 2016 September 30 (?)
  • '''Size requirements in pixels if applicable''': Square (downscaled automatically, whatever a good/preferred resolution is)
  • '''Logo or icon?''': Icon
  • '''What application is this for?''': [https://pagure.io Pagure] repository icons
  • '''Brief description of what the application does''': Source control management (SCM)
  • '''Developer contact information''': pingou (I think he's fairly easy to locate)
  • '''Desktop icons or web application icons?''': Web application

Perhaps art assets could be borrowed from [https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-badges/ticket/476 this badge]?

The targeted place for this image right now is here (and wherever repo icons are used in the future).

@jflory7 i actually really like the heart fedora one, with a little refinement it could be nice. Could we riff off of that?

Do not mind at all. :) The file I was using is attached.

Here's my first swing at the logo for Diversity Team. Went with a jigsaw design + the "four foundations" colors, assuming that transplanting the Fedora logo's f+infinity elements into another shape is disallowed.

pgpattison

Uploaded another version with white borders instead of blue. A bit easier on the eyes. (The white should look like negative space on Pagure, so I adjusted the icon size appropriately.)

And just in case the jigsaw heart is too far removed from the Fedora identity, here's the same design in a quarter-cloverleaf instead.

Thanks again for working on all of these, pgpattison! My only concern with this one is that it might be a little similar in design to the Modularity WG (which frequently uses the analogy of legos / puzzle pieces for describing their work). Maybe I'm being overcautious, but I wonder if there is a way we could try something else than the puzzle design?

As an example, you can see [https://badges.fedoraproject.org/badge/modularity-wg-member their badge here].

Ah, didn't know about Modularity WG. Jigsaw motif definitely makes sense for them. I'll see what else I can cook up. Thanks!

Sorry for taking so long. I tried several things that didn't quite work. v04 is one of the less disappointing efforts.

Finally decided to go back to the "Infinity-F and Heart" and create a version (v05) that should pass muster with the logo design standards.

@jflory7 What's the status of this request? Do you need me to make any further revisions to the Diversity Team's Pagure icon? -Palmer

@pgpattison Sorry it's taken so long for me to get you a response here! Missed this in my inbox.

As much as I personally like the Fedora heart (v5), I think the multi-colored panda design (v4) does a better job of getting a message across. The only thing that seems off to me is the dark blue background and how it contrasts with the panda heads. Maybe a different shade of blue that makes the panda heads pop off of the image a little better? It also doesn't have to be blue, whatever works.

Hi @jflory7 and @pgpattison, any progress on this one? would you like someone else to help out, too? The deadline seems long passed..

We definitely still have a use for it. :)

Hi @jflory7, I've changed the heart icon that @pgpattison created, so let me know what you think! I've also worked with the panda idea a bit, but considering how small the icon will be, I don't think it would be visible enough and people would not be able to see it properly. I added a little preview as well, so you can see how it'll actually look .
