Just an idea:

What do you think?
Not bad, but I'd vote for something with green palette and less Fedora-like - openSUSE folks are still original authors and I think that green would match with the rest of their design.
oh that's easy, one sec, will come up with a green version.

@duffy: The greens don't appear distinct enough to my eyes. Perhaps something where one of the letters is a teal-like color to be more visually distinct? It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for the openSUSE color palette, as they use a mix of greens and blues.
The openSUSE color reference is available here: http://opensuse.github.io/branding-guidelines/#colors
the shade differences between the two greens in the first iteration are actually pretty solid, at least on a calibrated display (but even if not - there are 3 shades of green in the tango palette, which in part were chosen to coordinate with suse. I used the darkest and the lightest values.) so if there's an issue discerning between the two letters (which I dont doubt even tho i cant see it,) I think its probably for other reasons than the shades of green.
im trying with suse green and the teal at your suggestion, but it looks awful imho.
here's a few alternatives using the suse primary colors -

it might be better to just go with the solid color bg if the q/a still reads to you (ive been staring at it too long at this point to tell) what do you think?
I think that number 7 is best. What do you think @adamwill?
Sorry, I totally missed this! I'm awful at making choices, I can't really say I like any of them more than the others. But I'll say the 'a' reads kind of like a 'd' to me...
There's some comments from the SUSE guys on the github issue: https://github.com/os-autoinst/openQA/issues/536
Assigning to Mary to finish off.
Just made a couple of variations on #7 but with a, hopefully, more distinguishable "a" (concept 1 has lower-case "a" while concept 2 has a take on an upper-case "A"; each concept as a boxed-in and an unboxed variation). Any thoughts? It looks like the openQA folks like #1 without the box the best - Mary can you export this out into the various sizes needed? (iirc, 24x24, 32x32, 64x64)
Sure, here's the 24x24, 32x32, and 64x64 in .png's [[Image(ticket #437_concept1_final_24x24.png)]] [[Image(ticket #437_concept1_final_32x32.png)]] [[Image(ticket #437_concept1_final_64x64.png)]] Do you need .svg's of them in those sizes too?

Yes, the upstream folks definitely want SVGs. I'm not quite sure what you mean by an SVG 'at' a certain resolution though, I thought the point of an SVG was it had no native resolution? :) Anyhow, whatever SVGs you can provide would be great, thanks!
Here's an svg of it [[Image(ticket #437_concept1_connected.svg)]]

...too sketched, literate. I believe we must put anything else in addition to icon.
mythcat, I'm a little unclear what you're thinking. Are you saying that you think that another iteration that is, perhaps, more abstract?
adamwill - are they good with the svg maryshak1996 provided?
well it looks like upstream closed their ticket, assuming they're ok with the design. please feel free to reopen if you need anything of course!
