#423 1/4 page ad for LinuxFest NorthWest 2016
Closed: Fixed None Opened 8 years ago by jsandys.

Request for a Fedora ad for the Linux Fest North West brochure. Fedora has a booth and is sponsoring the Friday game night. We will be featuring games this year and plan to feature a Super Tux Kart tournement. It would be cool to include the game theme in the art work.

The sponsorship page describes it as a 1/4 page ad, but it is a quarter page of a booklet, about 2-3/4 x 4-1/2 . Please contact the printer email listed above for details.

Thank you Jeff, I'll ask her about the right sizes.

I'm uploading a couple of suggestions. Didn't get any reply considering the size, so it's the same as last year. Comments are very welcome =)

I kind of like the left image, being a square engineer.
The actual quarter page printed image size is 1.75 x 2.50 inches.

Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff, thank you for the updated size! It is in fact different from last year's.

Hi Jeff!

Here's an updated image: the size is new and I've made some changes based on discussion with Mo. We agreed to make the tournament idea clearer - thus the flag and the text change.
Also she says one on the right has more movement to it and I tend to agree. What do you think?

Personally I like the previous version with the "fast, stable, and powerful operating system ..."

We will be running the tournament during the conference on Saturday and Sunday. The Friday Game night mostly features board and card games, I won't run the tournament then, but might have the SuperTuxKart courses up for the game night guests to practice the courses (or a first person shooter that I don't want to feature in booth during the conference).

I think the graphic of the cars is a fun (game like) way of saying "fast, stable and powerful", and it will be a reminder the guests that visit our booth and play the game which Linux they used. We will also be featuring the Fedora Game spin, Fedora network games, STEAM in Fedora, Windows XP games with WINE in Fedora, and OLPC games. The though I want to convey is that you can switch to Fedora Linux and still play games. The SuperTuxKart tournament will just be part of the show, hopefully the most exciting part.

When I do the Fedora booth, I try to think of something that will be personally memorable to the guest, an experience that they will want to tell their friends about the next day. I know that hands on activities and competitions provide these memorable experience. Last year we did Music with instruments for guests to play, this year games, next year we might feature the Design spin and have a drawing contest.

That memorable experience will be the seed that some time after the LinuxFest a guest will decide to install Linux, they will look through the program, see the cars and will remember which Linux they want to try. At that moment I think "fast, stable and powerful operating system ..." is what we want them to read.

Thanks,
Jeff Sandys

Hey Jeff!

That is absolutely fine and makes perfect sense. We can just as easily change the text back)
Let's decide, which mockup would best suite your needs.

Also, as it is a quarter page ad, do we need bleeds at all for it?

Thanks!

Hi Jeff!

Here's the updated text version =) We discussed the ad today at the design meeting, seems like everything is good. So just need your opinion and will prepare it for print. Thanks =)

I am uploading the print pdf since the deadline is set for tomorrow. If anything needs to be changed, let me know.

So Linux Fest North West has copy?
If so we can close this ticket.
Thanks,
Jeff Sandys

Would you like me to send file to the printer?
