Happy to do this one. Just a few questions:

  • What dimensions does the artwork need to be?

  • What format does the printer require to print?

  • Are you looking for a design where the Logo is on the standee? or something with more content on it?

Happy to do this one. Just a few questions:

  • What dimensions does the artwork need to be?

7feet x 4feet with about 5 inch bleed. This is similar to the standee requirement in ticket #346, except that this standee will be made on a less expensive frame and in flex.

  • What format does the printer require to print?

CMYK profile. Printers here usually work with Coral or Illustrator, but they are able to import PDF or EPS files.

  • Are you looking for a design where the Logo is on the standee? or something with more content on it?

We will definitely need one with the FUDCon Pune logo, maybe alongside the Fedora logo. Would it be OK if I post a full set of requirements after 6th June? We're going to do a walkthrough of the venue (and make a map) and will decide on banner and standee locations. I expect that walkthrough to give us a complete idea of the banners and standees required.

Also, if we need a couple of variants of the standee (say, one variant for the rooms and another for registration desk and hallways), do I need to file another ticket or is this one sufficient?

We can just use this ticket to track them all since they are just variants of the same design.

Here is a quick mockup of some designs (def not print ready yet)

the top one is a design for the Info-style standee to be used around.

and the bottom is just a general standee with the fudcon logo.

Hi Ryan,

Design Looks nice. Please provide print ready both Registration and Generic. 6*4 foot, CMYK .pdf will work.

Okies, here are the print-ready PDFs

The design is 7x4 feet (84x48) inches, but with the 5-inch bleed the actual size of the pdf is 94x58 inches.

https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/attachment/ticket/378/fudcon-pune-standee-registration.pdf

i had to guess a bit for the CMYK colours of the buildings, as they aren't normal colours from the Fedora logos, but the background and the fedora logo itself are definitely the correct CMYK colours

The last 4 files attached are just the source files (inkscape SVGs and Scribus SLAs) in case things need to be tweaked in the future.

Sorry, the size I mentioned above is incorrect. The standee sizes are 3x6 and not 7x4. That is 6 feet tall and not wide - I didn't realize that I had mentioned the sizes incorrectly :/

Pravin has opened separate tickets for banners, so I'll only describe the standees here:

  1. Registration standee - The general idea of your draft is nice, but adjusted to a vertical orientation
  2. Content standees: 3 standee designs
    - Logo with "Follow: @fudconin" and a QR code pointing to https://twitter.com/fudconin
    - Logo with "Tweet: #fudconin" and a QR code pointing to https://twitter.com/search?q=fudconin
    - Logo with "Like: FUDCon India 2015" and a QR code pointing to https://www.facebook.com/groups/418266014990989/

On all these standees, have a footer (not too far down though) with the following text:

"Sessions in the Auditorium, Seminar Hall, D-203, D-204, D-205, D-405 and D-406"

Okies, we just need to make sure we sign off on the correct designs and dimensions before i get them ready for print -- that conversion is pretty time consuming...

I will post some proofs of the new designs today for you to sign off on before I get them print-ready.

Here are the updated designs:

Is this what you were thinking?

These designs are 3x6 feet, with no bleeds currently shown (i'll add the 5inch bleeds when getting them print ready)

can you also double-check that the QR codes are correct on these? you might need to view the image whole, the png should have enough res to check them. Also, the QR code box is 6inchx6inch, so that should be large enough for people to scan easily.

cheers,
ryanlerch

Almost there, just a couple of changes:

  1. Could the first standee say "REGISTRATION" like it did in your first mockup?
  2. Could the footer be a bit higher up? It is currently at foot level, which seems too low

Thanks

okies, how about this?

Looks perfect, thanks!

Okies, will formulate for print. Just to confirm the formatting:

  • 3x6 feet (36x72 inches) + 5inch bleeds on each edge (taking the size up to 46x82 inches)
  • CMYK PDFs

Did you get a chance to check the QR codes -- want to make sure those are right :)

QR codes are working and same as suggested by Siddhesh in comment#9

Ack, CMYK PDFs with fonts converted to outlines.

Thanks

There seems to be an issue with the pdf; the print vendor gets a "corrupted file" error when trying to import them into Corel. I compared them with some other PDFs that we generated earlier for printing and it seems to me that the only difference is that these pdfs are v1.4 while the others are v1.5. Could this be the problem? If yes, could you please generate the PDFs with v1.5?

If you post the source, I could work with the vendor on alternate formats too (like eps or tiff) if pdf doesn't work at all.

Thanks,
Siddhesh

Marking this one as done now.

Feel free to reopen if changes need to be made to the print-ready PDFs.

cheers,
ryanlerch
