#357 1/4 page ad for LinuxFest NorthWest
Closed: Fixed None Opened 9 years ago by jsandys.

This is a request for a 1/4 page ad for Linux Fest North West. Fedora is sponsoring the Game Night and will have a 10x10 exhibit area. We will be demonstrating the Fedora Jam spin, with a mini recording studio using guitar, bass, keyboards and drums, kind of like "Rock Band" game but with real instruments. An ad with a music theme would be ideal, but last years ad (ticket 325) was great, and could be reused.

The LFNW staff made this poster for last year's game night: https://www.flickr.com/photos/algorhythm/14010955951/

== Deadline ==
* Deadline for design to be sent to printer
The printer requires graphics copy before April 1st.

'''Size requirements, can be standard paper size or width and height'''

  • Print area size (printer can provide this)
The sponsorship page describes it as a 1/4 page ad, but it is a quarter page of a booklet, about 2-3/4 x 4-1/2 . Please contact the printer email listed above for details.

It would be nice to get graphics copy of the ad suitable for poster size quick prints for the booth.

  • Templates (if provided by printer)

Dimensions for graphic are 2.3" width x 3.7" height; I'm guessing the bleed is 0.25"

jsandys - the flickr link you provided doesn't work, do you have one that works?

Opps, I had the picture set to private, please try again. -- Jeff

Design Artist,
This is what I sent to the LFNW organizer about our exhibit, FYI:

This year Fedora will be featuring our audio production spin, Fedora Jam, and we will have a mini recording studio set up with guitar, bass, keyboards, mikes and other instruments. We want Fest attendees to try out Fedora Jam and will also invite some local musicians to perform.

If possible we would like a corner exhibit space to allow controlled access to the performance space and instruments. Also consider our exhibitor neighbors as we will have some amateur musicians and singers making "music" all day. If we have a corner space we can project the sound towards the aisles.

If performers have a small (>250mb) USB drive or SD card we can save their performance, but we will not have storage devices available. Can you inform the surplus equipment exhibitor and the bookstore that there might be Fest attendees who want to buy small USB drives or SD cards. I know I wanted a USB drive last year and I think the bookstore ran out.

Fedora is also sponsoring the game night. Last year we only had the smaller half of Fox Hall and it was full. Let me know what we can do to help make this years LFNW a success.

Looks great! I think I like the -v3 best.
I'll pass it on to the ambassadors for approval this Thursday.
Will the pgn scale if we want to get a few larger poster size prints?

Great! I'm happy you like it. I've consulted the design team today and am going to add some finishing touches to it. I will upload them tommorrow.
Yes, I'll provide the svg file and png of appropriate sizes.

I do like the blue background of -v1. Both -v1 and -v2 have a prominent drum kit, but the electronic drum kit we will be using is a small Yamaha DD-55. -v1 has guitar, mike and keyboards, and the Fedora Logo more prominent. -- Jeff

Okay! So I'm uploading two suggestions: one with white background and one with blue. I've removed the text outline, so it won't draw too much attention away from the logo.

Hello! Did you pick the best design? Deadline is nearing and I'm ready to prepare file for printing!

Please send the blue background -v5 to LFNW as soon as possible.
Then we can close this ticket.

If possible, please send me the white background -v4 in a format suitable for approximately 18x12 poster from a quick print like Kinkos.

Hi! I'm uploading v5 with and without bleeds, please check with the printer and also check the file. If you have any questions, please, contact me. I will prepare v4 soon

Hi! I have a question about v4 - which is width and which is height? Also, just in case, those are inches, right?

CLosing the ticket as the deadline is passed and the work is done. Great work mleonova! The design looks fabulous!
