I'll be more than happy to implement a better design for that page. I know I'm doing this a bit too late in the cycle, but I really don't want to ship F21 with the current start.fpo still being the default homepage, so if we can't re-design it in time I'd ask browser packagers in Fedora to switch to something else (be it the Fedora project website, wikipedia, or in the case of firefox about:home).
We just discussed this in IRC and determined the best short-term fix is to switch the planet Fedora feed over to Fedora Magazine (much more moderated / vetted content with a more user-centric focus) and long-term to upgrade the page design with the www.fpo redo.

Yep, it's a fantastic idea. I replaced the feed and made some other minor tweaks in the f21-start.fpo branch.
Another thing I would be interested in is replacing the announcement feed on the top left with some call to action to contribute. If anyone have more ideas on other minor tweaks, I'd love to hear them.
I think that maybe the page needs to look a little less simplistic. Maybe we need a background image?

We don't have any category there to display the icon.png of the single posts, but we could talk to magazine guys to use tags. Anyway, all the rest is working and the page should be responsive too. Please let me know if you have improvements or suggestions.
For example, I'd need an SVG of the fmag-ribbon.png as the one I used is not neat enough.

'''NOTE''': firefox 35.0.3, which reverts the default page to start.fpo, is going to be pushed to stable today, so IMO it would be nice to have the new page running in production. We could add the images the next days if that's ok.
