#272 Talking points flyer template
Closed: Invalid None Opened 10 years ago by bookwar.

There is an idea of a Talking points, which are short versions of the Feature Announcments or Release Notes, suitable for Ambassadors.

See the link here:

Explanation here:

And discussion there:

I think it could be great to easily produce short and catchy flyers with this information.

Some thoughts on implementation:

  • it should be a template, not a one-time thing

Idealy we shoud be able to just take random text in this form

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Template:Talking_points

then run some script and create a ready-to-print flyer. Thus it would be easy to translate them or fill with some additional info.

Is it possible? Could we just create a latex file and fill it with text?

  • it is release-oriented, thus we probably need a place for the release banner

But other then that I would vote for more text and less pictures, since content is important here.

  • I see it as a flyer, thing to giveaway. But maybe we need a bigger poster-size design as well?

By "Print" do you mean print from a home printer?

or actaully printing flyers with a printer?

Having a script to generate this stuff could work for talking points to just print out yourself. Not sure how well it would work if you wanted to do an actaul print run.

There has been a quite interesting thread that derivate in this ticket. Take a look, not a long read :)

I think the idea would be to print at home and make an easy print that won't be too expensive, something that can take the info out of the wiki would be great, however, should be easy to translate and take under consideration a space and font-size change so translations can also fit.

This are some flyers that LATAM has been using, they either could be a good inspiration base or used if you like; let me know any comment :)

Thank you for the idea. The audience for Talking Points is not the public; the Talking Points page is created for the sake of Ambassadors only. We discussed this among the Design team, and agreed it doesn't make sense to design a flyer for Talking Points. An Ambassador can simply print off the wiki page, if they need a hard copy to help them while explaining the information to other people. The Talking Points should not be simply handed out.

A separate flyer for Fedora makes good sense, and that should be worked out with the Marketing group for the best text (and translations!) and the Design team can help with that initiative when text is prepared.
