Okies, I have finalised the banner, and created all the tarballs neccesary for the fedora-websites team:
The banner this time is a little different, we have a stock .gif background, and then PNGs that get overlayed over the top. Here is the example of the banner: http://ryanlerch.fedorapeople.org/animato/
The following tarball contains the .gif and tarballs of all the PNGs for all the Langs: http://ryanlerch.fedorapeople.org/countdown-banner/countdown-banners.tar.gz

ryanlerch, that is fantastic. I will include it, but I think we can't easily let guys using it on their own blog by using our JS script.
Could you get an other tarball without the gif, png only? I mean, one brighter that won't need the GIF to be nice?
If you can't, no problem, we will think about this for F19 ;)
I think it's easier to decide on the level of the server-side script without changing the client. Several releases ago I test your banner, experimenting with the server, it is very flexible script it much. After changing the timing of the release we have enough time for that. And in the next release, we can go back to the old version if necessary. I really like Ryan's idea with an animated banner - it is very interesting:)
