#111 Live media sleeves for spins
Closed: Fixed None Opened 14 years ago by cwickert.

We plan to make more live media in EMEA than Gnome and KDE. In order to visually distinguish the different spins we would like to have custom media sleeves for each spin, this means:
* Gnome/Desktop
* KDE
* LXDE
* Xfce

On the other hand we'd like to keep the corporate identity of Fedora, so they shouldn't differ too much from the original ones. What I have in mind is the current artwork with just the logo if the desktop environment in white (so we don't need any additional colors)

Ping, any news here? This is getting urgent as we need the spins Live Media ready for FOSDEM, February 6th and 7th.

Sorry, I forgot to mention: We already have KDE and Gnome, so what we need is Xfce and LXDE. Just take the official artwork and place the Xfce/LXDE logo in it and you are done.

SVG version of the official Xfce logo
xfce_logo.svg

SVG version of the official LXDE logo
lxde-logo.svg

Both logos bzipped, SVGs get corrupted
xfce+lxde-logos.tar.bz2

Thanks tatica for taking over. I like your work, however I have done some minor modifications:
* Removed "Live Media" and replaced it with "LXDE/Xfce Spin" (because "spin" already indicates that it is live media).
* Moved the Xfce mouse a little, so it is centered around the hole in the middle of the CD.
* Adjusted opacity of the LXDE logo for better contrast and to match the Xfce one
* Removed blur from the LXDE logo to match the Xfce one.

Here are the modified files:

IMO Xfce is ready, but I'm not sure about LXDE. Which version do you think looks better? The one with the smaller logo or the larger one? And what about the sleeves? Basically we only need https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Artwork/MediaArt/F12#32-bit_Desktop_Live_2 and replace
"Desktop Live Media" with "LXDE Spin" or "Xfce Spin". If I had the svg source, I could do this myself.

Ping tatica... This is getting urgent, ether help me with the sleeves or tell me where I can find the other templates in SVG format. TIA!

Christoph, I see the "Source Artwork" links you need on the media art page you already linked to:

Sleeves: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Artwork/MediaArt/F12#Source_Artwork
Discs: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Artwork/MediaArt/F12#Source_Artwork_2

Are those the files you're trying to find?

No, these are SLA, I'm looking for SVG.

Hm, maybe I'm confused, but when I open the SLA in Scribus, I can edit all the text labels directly, and/or add/remove other art. Is that not what you want to do?

Basically yes, but tatica and me both work with inkscape, not with scribus and already have the media design in SVG. Honestly, I don't know how to work with scribus: When I try to edit the existing white text I get small black text instead and undo is not available. When I use scribus to export to SVG the results are incredible huge files because every single letter (!) is exported as a separate object. This makes editing the text impossible because you cannot align it again.

If somebody know where I can find editable SVG versions of the sleeves, please tell me. Otherwise dear design team please please take care of this request.

Mo told me that I have to use scribus anyway as inkscape doesn't do CMYK. So I started again with the files from the
[http://fedorapeople.org/groups/designteam/Resources/Fedora%20Release%20Themes/F12/Media%20Artwork/ Design Team's fedorapeople space].

Here are my results: http://cwickert.fedorapeople.org/artwork/scribus/

Basically this should do, but I'd still like to have a logo on the discs as in the previous version. Unfortunately I haven't figured out how to do this properly in scribus.

Attached are first draft files for this ticket.
For media sleeves the logos may be very small but I considered the format for all sleeves should be preserved and the desktop logo shouldn't compete with Fedora's.

For the labels I followed the example previously posted here only with the design for Fedora 13.

Please let me know your comments about this and I'll make the corrections and post files for 64bit arches too.
