#87 OSCON 2014 booth
Closed: Fixed None Opened 9 years ago by quaid.

I am proposing that we sponsor a Fedora booth at OSCON, to be shared with the CentOS Project. CentOS will have several project leaders there for a panel talk, so we'll have at least that many folks to help staff the booth.

The goal would be to cover the range of community distributions in the Red Hat ecosystem - the fast-moving Fedora and slow-moving CentOS. Give users a chance to understand both of them in relation to each other. Talk (a lot) about the newness since Red Hat joining the CentOS Project, including how SIG variants work. There is a lot of crossover discussions to be had with Fedora folks and users and developers at the conference.

The plan for the booth would be to split down the middle, with pull-up banners signifying which side of the booth has folks from which distro. We don't have much planned for demos, so we can give over more of the table surface to Fedora if there is a 3D printer etc. that needs it.

For US$5000 we can get a ready-to-go booth in the normal for-pay booth pavilion. Red Hat provides a bit of CentOS promo budget that can be used here to cover half of the cost.

As an Ambassador, I can take or share the job of organizing the booth for Fedora. That will make me wearing three hats at the event, but I'm used to that.

Do we know if there are any Fedorans going to OSCON or interested in going as part of the booth? I presume we get a few passes for booth staff.
