#32 SELF Brainstorming
Closed: Fixed None Opened 12 years ago by inode0.

There will be one or more SELF Brainstorming sessions to see if we can think of some fun and interesting new things to do this year at SELF. We'll announce those when they are scheduled but everyone is welcome to add ideas in this ticket too.

Agreed to schedule a session for Sunday, April 15, at 7pm EDT ...

Announcement sent to the ambassadors list.

Per the discussion about hot dog artwork (specifically, getting the hot dog on a button) here is the repository of the current hot dog artwork (thanks to Mo). Check it out; which image do you like?

Created a ticket in the Design trac for creating the beefy miracle button design.

Cost estimate using purebuttons.com for 500 buttons:

1 inch button: .205 each, approx. $102.50 (shipping and handling not included)
1.25 inch button: .225 each, approx. $112.50 (shipping and handling not included)

I contacted the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry this week. They will be able to pick up what we collect on Sunday afternoon and offered to drop off some material for us on Friday if we want it (flyers and a branded collection bin).

Added two versions of the Beefy Miracle button, one with a white background and one with a white background. The text around the button's circumfrance will be printed on the sides of the button, not on it's face.

I like the green back ground the best. It stands out from the Blue

After reviewing feedback for the beefy miracle button, I made the following adjustments:

Made text more defined by eliminating the script style and modifing HvD comic serif font per gnokii's recommendation. I also outlined the text in black to match the relish.
Moved the words closer together.
Removed the glow behind the hot dog.
Added more bits of relish in the 'air'.
Put a shadow on the relish in the background/beneath hotdog.
Added a slight highlight to the perimeter of the core (yellow) Beefy Miracle text.
Feedback was split about 50/50 regarding which background color was prefered. In this case, I chose a white background. If we end up doing another order of the buttons later in the year, maybe we'll change it to green.

500 Beefy Miracle buttons were ordered on 5/24. The order was completed and shipped on 6/4.

The final artwork used to print the Beefy Miracle buttons can be found here: http://graphitefriction.fedorapeople.org/beefy/

The corresponding design ticket was closed on 6/11/2012.

Thank you everyone who contributed to the Fedora presence at SELF this year. I think we had a lot of great ideas and there was much fun had by all attending.
