#2 Multitouch Event Booth System
Closed: Fixed None Opened 12 years ago by inode0.

We need someone to investigate an appropriate Multitouch system for use at Fedora booths. I briefly looked at

  • Dell Inspiron One 2320
  • Lenovo {{{IdeaCentre}}} B520
  • Samsung Series 7

but don't really feel confident in recommending these without further research.

It should be noted that multitouch is one of the features for Fedora 17; it's entirely likely the the feature owner might have some recommendations on hardware that is known to work well with Fedora.

I humbly suggest that whoever takes this on get in touch with Peter first, just to make life easier.

Suggestion: check with multitouch feature folks to see if they have any recommendations to try to make sure what we get will work well with this feature in Fedora.

Here is some feedback from Mario.

also, i did research the 23 inch all-in-one touch screen slim desktops
from Dell and Toshiba, here are some points to consider:

1) factory outlet / refurbished are much cheaper than new models

2) AMD is the way to go save more $$$$

3) the average price im seeing is between 400 and 900 dollars
depending on inventory in the outlet

4) free shipping is available

5) i am willing to purchase one, install F16 and use it for events

At the 2013 FADNA meeting there was renewed interest in purchasing multitouch equipment for demos at Fedora booths. The FAmNA FY14 budget line item:infrastructure contains funds.
