(Ticket moved from FAmSCo queue: https://fedorahosted.org/famsco/ticket/260 )
Last year Max Spevack and I spoke with Fernando Lopez-Lezcano, of Stanford University's Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA), about supporting the Linux Audio Conference (LAC) that is being held at Stanford this year.
Max and I pledged support for the project, but we didn't actually get a line in the community budget to support it - which I just realized recently. LAC has requested US$1000 to $US1500 for this event.
As it happens, we have a generous donor interested in providing the funding for Fedora to be the sponsor. That should cover the basic funding-for-sponsorship requirement, or part of it could be used to get an interested Fedoran to the event.

What I need from FAmSCo is approval to have Fedora be a sponsor of the LAC 2012 event.
If you have any budget available you would like to use for this event, I will see what can be done with it.
From here, pending your approval, I will go to the Fedora Audio SIG and ask for interest in representing Fedora at the event. If we have travel budget, we'll be able to send someone to LAC. I hope to attend myself, as it is relatively close to me.
FAmNA approves sponsorships in NA although certainly FAmSCo can do that too. Based on discussion at the last FAmNA meeting I'm sure FAmNA would be pleased to sponsor this event.
Budget both in FAmNA and in FAmSCo for the upcoming fiscal year is unknown to us at this point so we can't commit to anything until we hear about the budget. We'll keep monitoring that but we do know that one ambassador is already on the list of attendees so Fedora will be present in any case.
I'll own this one as I plan to attend anyway. I assume there will not be a table to sit at all day and that I will be a roving ambassador with some swag. How do I request $200 for travel?
Replying to [comment:1 inode0]:
Is that in fact a "yes" to the sponsorship?
Note below information:
No budget is being requested from Fedora for this event, Manifold Recording has that covered.
We just need you to agree that Fedora can be named as a sponsoring organization.
Replying to [comment:2 jsandys]:
I think that is just by putting you in touch with Michael Tiemann (Manifold Recording) directly.

I asked Jeff to add this event to our weekly agenda for this Tuesday's meeting. I strongly support this and really don't expect anyone else to object to our sponsoring this event (especially under these conditions). But let's wait until Tuesday to make the "yes" a fact so others have a chance to give their input. I'll note that we will make a final decision then so there won't be any further delays in planning. (And I think it would be completely safe to proceed with planning at this point.)

Ok, it wasn't clear to me if the Fedora people participating would also be sponsored by Manifold Recording. I'm also happy to sponsor Jeff with FAmNA funds for what its worth. I've sent Jeff mail answering his question from a FAmNA subsidy point of view but he may not need to do that for this event.
Thanks Karsten for clearing things up.
FAmNA approved Fedora sponsoring LAC tonight and will work with jsandys to make sure some promotional material is available at the event. Thanks Karsten!
I'll take ownership of this. -- Jeff Sandys
I submitted a swag request, and will submit the materials I create for review. https://fedorahosted.org/famnarequests/ticket/276 Nothing else to report today. I will update the event page to include my blog and other updates. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Linux_Audio_Conference_2012 -- Jeff
