From the meeting of 06/04/2018 [1] (14:46:35), as bex explains:
* Latam approve the ticket (u know, the amount is reasonable?, the ticket is valid?, etc )
* He send the swag
also for celerity we call a vote in the tickets 1

So, if you think this ticket is reasonable please give a +1 :smile:

+1

Good luck with the event!

williamjmorenor commented

I am +1 but @bt0dotninja plese note about buttons:

  • The idea of the small button of 1" is for people in general.
  • The idea of the "Libertad" button is for people aready using Fedora
  • The idea of the Latam button is a distintive of a Fedora Project Contributor

I see you request the same amount of all buttons. just note that.

I update the the description adding the address and adjust the amounts taking into account your comments

+1

Good luck!

I see 3 +1 here, assigning to @bex

it was published in fedora planet too :smile:

@bt0dotninja,

You accomplished all the steps in the guideline.

Should we close or change tags on this issue?

@bt0dotninja Can you share some of the things we learned? What made the conference a success? What should we consider doing differently next year? Should we do it again next year?

@bex, he write reports! also in Community Blog (I think that nobody else=20
did it, and it was a requirement since FAD Cuzco).
I'm AFK, maybe report links are in the wiki page (It should be there).

@asoliard : sure, we can close it.
@bex : no problem:

What we learned?

As ambassador / speaker : I always require prepare an additional quick talk and other activities, in case of having to cover another speaker who will not arrive (i did it 2 times in the flisol)

As event organizer: we need more than one person to help the organizing committee to reach the university authorities, this year our point of contact pass away, the professor Alejandro Arellano Torres was for nine year the principal organizer of the Flisol in the Toluca Institute of Technology. With his loss many parts of the event organization entered in chaos, particularly the financial part.

why this flisol edition was a success?

Mainly three things:

  1. The early search of speakers in the IT industry, Mexican FLOSS community and the academy, this help to build an amazing agenda with first level speakers and many workshops.

  2. The full support of the Toluca Institute of Technology (they adopted this event and want do at least another edition the next year)

  3. The volunteers, they are the true heroes of this event, it was inevitable that we mourned our loss but all continued to do their part with a phrase that became our mantra that day: "Let's do it for Professor Alejandro".

This year we had an amazing convocatory , more or less than 1200 people [1]

What should we consider doing differently next year?

This time we had at least two opportinity areas:

  • Contingency plans when one or more speakers don't come to the conference
  • Prepare a plan of assignation of stand places. (we don't have any)

Should we do it again next year?

Yeah :smile:

A report was written and it was a great public report, but it didn't answer my questions so I asked :D

@bt0dotninja thank you for the update. I hear lots of good reasons for FLISOL to be held. What Fedora message worked best for us? How do we know? (sorry for all the questions)

@bex : Don't Worry

What Fedora message worked best for us?

I stole a @x3mboy phrase :smiling_imp: :

"Come to Fedora, no matter what you do: Not everything is about the code!”.

It works great for me
In the case of end users, well I concentrate on the advantages of combining stability and cutting edge technologies

How do we know?

About the first message : that day we create at least 2 fas accounts but i don't know if those people are still active :pensive:

About the general public and final users, the fedora installation desks was busy, and that is good :)

This is great. Have you considered pinging the two new FAS accounts and seeing if you can help them make their first contribution. I know this assumes you have some free-time.
