#420 [RFE] Password Expiration Notification
Closed: Fixed None Opened 14 years ago by myllynen.

It would be useful for a user to see a notification that the current password is about to expire soon when authenticating.

Can you provide more details here, please? We have the ldap_pwd_policy option for this purpose.

milestone: SSSD 1.2 => NEEDS_TRIAGE

The idea was to provide a prior notification that user's password is about to expire soon (e.g., "Notice: Your password will expire in 2 days."). This is how some other clients (e.g., smbpasswd, Windows) act. Getting this kind of notification when cached offline credentials are about to expire would be especially important but as mentioned over IRC there was a related GDM bug at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=613031.

Well, the offline_credentials_expiration option will notify you how long your offline credentials are valid with a PAM message. When the GDM bug is fixed, it will be more obvious.

If you're talking about being notified while offline of how long your online credentials would be valid, that's a trickier case.

It was thought of being notified when authenticating online.
