At this time SSSD override_homedir option allows for some limited substitution sequences. However, there is no way to override homedirs for more evolved exceptions such as /home/b/bob, where path is dependent on first letter of username or some such.
For more flexibility, it would be nice to use a regexp (or an output of a script) for determining homedir in certain scenarios.

This seems to relate to #2135 as well, though the suggestion of running an external script to determine the output is probably the most flexible to be able to cope with many different requirements.
