#144 Suspected Heavy CPU load after re-login
Closed: Fixed 4 months ago by polcak. Opened 6 months ago by shabby-shelter.

Summary

After I re login (most of the time after a screen saver for 6+ hours), my laptop froze to a halt. The desktop isn't responding, nor the TTY login work.

Setup

A fresh install with a laxer default config (mainly to workaround the Clouldflare Anti-Bot page)

Pages affected: all the way to system (I have about 200 tabs so I don't really know if they cause the issue)
JShelter Version: 0.18.1

Popup information (open JShelter popup on affected pages:

  1. Navigate to a page that you are having trouble with: N/A
  2. Click on the JShelter badge icon.
  3. Is JavaScript Shield active? ON
  4. Is Network Boundary Shield active? ON
  5. Is Fingerprint Detector active? ON
  6. What fingerprint likelihood does Fingerprint Detector report? N/A
  7. Did Fingerprint Detector produce any notifications, if so, what was the notification? N/A
  8. Click on the Modify button next to the JavaScript Shield label.
  9. What is the highlighted level button text? N/A
  10. Click on the Detail tweaks of JS shield for this site button.
  11. What wrappers were triggered by the page, list them below: N/A

[Optional:]

OS: Linux Mint 20.1 Xfce
Browser: Firefox 127.0.2
Other extensions that might affect JShelter behaviour:
- Violentmonkey
- Absolute Enable Right Click & Copy
- uBlock

How to reproduce

  1. Install the extension
  2. Wait till the system enter screen saver mode for 6+ hours
  3. Wake the system an login

Expected result

Able to use the system normally

Actual result

They system slow to a crawl. Both X server and TTY doesn't work at all. The only way to resolve this to hard reset the system.

Reproducibility

I did not try to reproduce this on other config. One being reopening all the tabs I have will being painful. Two being I don't have another standard browser unless you count ungoogled-chromium is one.

Workarounds

N/A

Have you tried other steps to solve the issue?

N/A

Additional information / notes

N/A
