can you provide more data? What JShelter version do you use?

What does it mean starting a fresh Firefox session with all removed? Especially, have you consider that whatever your doing at that point might remove the JShelter settings?

If you change JShelter settings and go to Advanced settings, you should be able to see the change. For example, '"default": "3",' means Strict default level whereas "default": "2", means the Recommended level.

Please, try:

1. Go to global options.
2. Change the default JSS level to Strict.
3. Go to advanced options and verify that '"default": "3",' is present in the textarea.
4. Restart Firefox and clear whatever you are removing.
5. Go to advanced options and verify that '"default": "3",' is present in the textarea.

Please, report your finding including any other information like what exactly are your custom settings that are lost.

I am ignoring your claim that recommended JSS settings are not useful as that is a different issue. But please make sure that you read and understand https://jshelter.org/farbling/ and https://arxiv.org/abs/2204.01392. If you have more information how to improve the Recommended level, please, open a new issue.

Pagure interpret two underscores as bold. The expected line contains 2-times undescore, default, 2-times underscore.

In 103 I identified a possible problem.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Add a custom level.
2. Select the custom level as default.
3. Restart the browser/reload the extension. The level is stored but the default is reset to Recommended.

Additional clarifications

As already said, please provide any additional information on the custom data that is not saved.

before version 11.2 , custom level can be default without problem and never reset back to recommend settings after exit browser

Default level reset fixed in ac8c4ac and will be officially released as 0.11.3 soon. Other settings should not be affected. If you know about other settings that are removed, please let us know in other issue.
