As mentioned by @gotmax23 in https://pagure.io/GoSIG/go-sig/issue/1#comment-948696 I think we should some kind of policy around adding new members.
I think we should probably have some sort of policy about who gets added, as the Go SIG has perms over a lot of packages. Maybe requiring some sort of demonstrated knowledge of Go packaging and having been a member of the packager group for some amount of time.
Current approach is defined in https://pagure.io/GoSIG/go-sig/blob/master/f/README.md?text=True#_13
All you need is to have an FAS account and be a packager. Add a comment to the issue at go-sig. "Please add me" is enough, but a brief self-introduction is appreciated.
I propose the following:
Membership in the Packager Group Applicants must already be a member of the Packager group in Fedora.
Demonstrated Experience in Go Packaging Applicants should have demonstrable experience with packaging Go projects in Fedora. This can be shown through:
Duration of Packager Group Membership Applicants should have been a member of the Packager group for at least 6 months before applying to join the Go SIG. Exceptions can be made if the applicant demonstrates significant expertise with Go packaging and tooling.
Application Process To request membership, applicants should comment on the Go SIG issue tracker with:
Review and Approval Membership requests will be reviewed by existing Go SIG members to ensure alignment with the SIG’s goals and the applicant’s qualifications. Membership decisions will be made collectively, and feedback will be provided if an application is not approved.
