#10 Translate free-media form to make it more accessible
Opened 7 years ago by ankursinha. Modified 3 years ago

The new form is here: https://pagure.io/Free-Media/Housekeeping/blob/form-roberts-version/f/request-form/FreeMedia-form.html

If at all possible, we'd like to translate this to make it more usable and accessible across regions.

Is this form on the Zanata?
So that the L10N team can translate easily?
Just like the Fedora websites.
I could translate, I'm also in the L10N team.

No, not yet - we'll have to see how it's to be setup. I'm not too well versed with the translation bit - would you want to take this one up @fredlima? I've added you to the Free-Media group on pagure prod and staging. Please assign the ticket to yourself if you'd like to work on it :)

I'm not a member of the websites team, but if this form get moved for the getfedora.org then it will be easily translated by L10N team.
I will find a way to resolve this by contacting someone from websites team.
What do you think?

@linuxmodder
Not from me.
Can you intermediate an communication with someone from websites team?
or know who can help us?

per a chat with @nb in -websites, it was mentioned we should reach out to @robyduck on this ticket.

Apologies for this late reply.
I am not aware of how applications manage their translations, and I don't feel the websites process is applicable to other apps or pages. Websites use genshi markups and then create the POT file from that. The POT file is then pushed to Zanata for translations. For pulling strings we use the zanata python client directly on the webserver, as websites are built hourly.
Personally I don't see any issue if you create your POT file locally even without genshi markups and then push it to zanata through the normal command. This can be done manually and is probably the method all other webapps are using. You could then setup a cron to pull the translations strings from Zanata for all languages to the server, but I have no idea about this should be set up. Infra will give you advises here, more than I can.

Blocks on #11, but going to send out an email to the l10n team ML to see if we can get interested folks involved in translating the old copy, and hoping those folks stick around for the new form AND help promote the effort.

I am 2-years late. Two years of curiosity brought me here. How is translation a problem with the form? Can't we get rolling with English to start with? I have not figured out how to work with Pagure yet. How does one test the form? My browser doesn't render the HTML file. I still see the markup.
