Explore:
Aimed at the new users who want to know more about the Fedora plus the old power users who explore in depth. New users can read about Fedora and explore in more depth using the links. Power Users can view the important updates and events right upfront.

Connect:
Aimed at the new users who want to connect toFedora. Includes Content from AskFedora and Fedora Social.

Do you think we should have above combined tabs or individual tabs?
PS: we can have upto 5 tabs easily at the bottom.

@shilpi1958 Thanks for creating the issue for an open-ended discussion.

You have entirely misinterpreted the design pattern. There are separate screens for the mag and calendar which can be accessed from the front page itself (dedicated screens for those particular features.) I have not "Combined two features", the features exist independently, but another way to access them has been introduced.

Another thing, Rather than asking people, I believe in actually testing out with them. Quoting Henry Ford, "If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses". People don’t know what they want until you show it to them.

That's unnecessary cognitive load. More choices result in longer to think about these choices and make a decision. We must simplify choices for the user by breaking complex tasks into smaller steps, hence the 4 options upfront on the home screen and lesser options in the tabs below.

I am not at all hellbent on implementing this pattern, this is just one of the choice. The point is to ideate new patterns :-) I will share the results of usability testing of this pattern once I am done with a threshold of users, and then we can think of other alternatives.

Cheers :-)

Good to know your view!
