#4 proposed general criteria for Fedora products

Continuing from private ticket https://fedorahosted.org/board-private/ticket/177

The contents of that ticket were mostly reposted at https://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/board-discuss/2014-April/012502.html, with the final addendum being:

We stalled on this. The summary of where we left off seems to be a common criteria > of:

  • Addresses a new, relevant, and broad usecase or userbase that Fedora is not currently serving
  • The usecase should be something the Board sees as being a long term investment
  • The Product should be coherent with all of Fedora's foundations

being used for new Product creation. Does that seem accurate?

We should vote to approve (or disapprove) this statement.

I wonder of this is too generic. I mean, it very much sounds like the definition of spins which was
{{{
Fedora spins are alternate versions of Fedora, tailored for various
types of users via hand-picked application sets and other customizations.
}}}

Reworded first point, as "reworded proposal":

  • Addresses a new, relevant, and broad usecase or userbase that a Fedora Product is not currently serving"
  • AGREED: proposed criteria passed (with slight rewording) (+6 with one abstention)

(Leaving this open until I can make a link to it in the fedora.next wiki pages)
