#328 FAS Privacy setting is currently not respected on outside platforms
Closed: deferred 3 years ago by bcotton. Opened 3 years ago by lionirdeadman.

Why is this an issue?

Premise :
I personally am not comfortable sharing my real name online. FAS has a setting to allow me to hide this information. This is good.

Problem :
Platforms using FAS do not respect this setting.

Why this is a problem :
This means that I effectively can't contribute under terms that I feel comfortable with unless I lie about my name in FAS. If I lie about my name, the FPCA is probably not proper any more from a legal standpoint, I assume. So I am stuck with this.

Solution :
Make platforms respect the FAS the setting either by making FAS provide the username as real name (easy) or implement a private name system in each and every one platform (hard)

I hope I presented this issue clearly enough.

I've opened an issue with the infrastructure team. I don't think there's any direct action the Council can take, but I appreciate you letting us know.
