#214 Request for funding: Fedora Loves Python swag for future events
Closed: approved 5 years ago Opened 5 years ago by churchyard.

Opened as https://pagure.io/ambassadors-emea/swag_requests/issue/36 but got sent here.

I'd like to request new batch of Fedora Loves Python swag (stickers and leaflets as usual) as I was informed that we don't have any more.

As much as possible. I'd say:

  • 400-600 leaflets
  • 1000-2000 stickers (they are timeless)

Those are not for any specific event, but we'll need them at next DevConf CZ, PyCon CZ, PyCon SK, PyCon US, EuroPython, Flock, release parties, etc. Too late for Flock 2018.

cc @kmrstiko @bex @pviktori

@kmrstiko should be able to know the price.

Thanks

We produce 500 leaflets in March 2018 for about $270. @kmrstiko can you provide price estimates for the stickers, if known. I can also get them via stickermule.com for about $500 assuming my spec guesses are accurate.

@churchyard can you provide design links

I asked this ticket to come here as it is not an EMEA ticket. I suspect this should go to mindshare in the future. I'd like council input on that too. We handled Fedora Loves .NET directly.

the price is 0,2€/pc =~ $0,24/pc

+1 for these and better produce more to get some additional discounts.

This is the post popular Fedora sticker at any event. Which becomes even more relevant as Python 3 migration goes forward.

We must have lots of those freely available in the upcoming year, because it is going to be one of our main talking points for inexperienced audience.

Given the popularity, I'd love to see "Fedora Loves Python" messaging extended beyond the sticker. Do we have some canned presentations? Do we have people who can speak to different audiences (webdevs? biopython? ai/ml?) What are we offering that's special beyond love?

We have https://fedoralovespython.org/ as the major talking points.

I'd love to go beyond. However here I've just asked for a bunch of stickers and leaflets. While we can certainly move the discussion to a higher level, I'd be sad if the main point of the ticket is lost.

+1 for producing stickers

@kmrstiko told me she will be ordering some swag for devconf now and would like to do this together.
It should save us some money for packing & shipping.

Can we please move this forward?

@mattdm @bcotton I believe we have lazy consensus here and would like to close this as approved. Let's do so at our next meeting.

@churchyard and @kmrstiko can we work together to get this put into the right budgets and produced. Let's talk via email on this.

@mattdm I wanted to chat about this at DevConf CZ but there was no oportunity. Where would be the best place to kick of a discussion/brainstorm of such?

@churchyard Would the Python SIG be a good place to start?

The Python SIG is full of engineers and packagers. What we did so far about Fedora Loves Python is the bets we could do. If we want to move this further (make bigger) we need to involve Docs, Marketing, CommOps, Design... Would Mind Share be a place to take this to?

Mindshare is a great place to take this, but it needs someone to own/drive it. Mindshare doesn't have spare "make my project succesful" people, but we can often get the right teams in the room.

I think the bigger question we need to answer first is "how does Fedora love Python?" and to whom does this matter? That gets us a target audience.

Alternately, we can define the audience and then see if Fedora has something to offer them. This is doubly useful if we have an answer that isn't "also an option."

(I just wanted to know where we should have the discussion we are having now in an old closed ticket.)
