#127 Trademark usage request
Closed: approved 6 years ago Opened 6 years ago by spot.

A programming sticker vendor (dingcosticker.com) in South Korea wants to be able to produce stickers with the Fedora logo on them. They are aware of our offerings with unixstickers.com, however, the shipping time (3 weeks) and "unfair fee" make it less optimal to purchase from them.

I have discussed the terms that they'd have to honor in order to have permission to use the Fedora trademarks in this context, and they have agreed to them (not formally, though, that comes later). They also agree to provide us 15% of the profit made from selling Fedora stickers (which we can get back in either $ or equivalent stickers).

They are only planning on using one design at this time, the simple "Fedora bubble" without wordmark, at a size of 1.5 inch squared. Attached is a PNG showing their sheet (they will cut and sell the Fedora sticker separately, but they print the sheets via stickermule, which is the same backend that unixstickers uses).

I am comfortable recommending approval of the Fedora trademark for this case.

To be crystal clear, I'm looking for the Council to vote on allowing this. I'll handle all the rest. :)

We are allowing unixstickers.com, and legal is in favor of the request too, so from my POV there is no reason to block the request, which is also very reasonable.

+1 here.

I don't see any controversy here; let's do "no negative votes in the next three days = approved".

This is approved. Thanks spot!
