#526 LFNW 2017 badge
Closed: fixed 6 years ago Opened 7 years ago by jsandys.

Please create a badge for Fedora attendees at Linux Fest North West 2017, May 6th and 7th.

The theme of LFNW this year is "The Mechanics of Freedom", we will feature the Security Labs spin and attendees can create a passphrase with dice and the EFF Pass Phrase word lists.

Our plan is to use a kiosk app to collect comments from attendees. We hope to integrate fedmsg into the app so attendees can enter their fedora user id to claim the badge.

Linux Fest North West uses a totem pole with a penguin on top as an icon that should be incorporated in the badge. I will take a cut at the badge design but my inkscape skills are pretty lame.

I love it!
My only suggestion is space out (kern) the 2017 to improve the legibility.
Thanks,
Jeff

Bill Wright, the Linux Fest North West, likes it too.

Great, @jsandys ! @modry let's improve kerning in '2017', and the badge is good to go :)

@modry can we use an outline version of the badge for the dice? ticket 503
Blue velvet color die with white fill. Joe at Chessex says that the minimum size of fill is 0.4 points.
Chessex can make 300 in time for the Fest and this should be enough.
Bill (LFNW) and I really like the design, they would become collectors items.
I will send Joe the artwork from both tickets so Chessex can offer their advice.

@jsandys I'm a bit confused. Didn't realise these two tickets were connected. Should I make an outline version and upload it to the dice ticket?

@modry, Kerning is better but I would leave LFWN crunched together and spread the 2017 a little more so the margins between the totem and the border were similar for both LFNW and 2017.

We are using the logotype on the dice so all we need is to send the scaleable vector art of the logotype "fedora" to Joe at custom@cheesex.com so I can order the dice.

Thanks for your great work, I will have something interesting for you to work on next year. And you probably have other projects to work on, I don't want to monopolize your time.

Looks good,
close the ticket,
Thanks,
Jeff

@sayanchowdhury @modry the artwork is great! One last thing to do would bring 2017 a bit closer together, so it would follow the shape of the badge: so something in between the last version and the next to last ;) I'll set it to Approved right after!

OMG the artwork is amazing! Fantastic job @modry!

There is a duplicate version of this badge pushed here. A ticket is open in the Infrastructure Pagure to delete the duplicate, since the deletion script is broken. Re-opening this ticket until the duplicate is removed to keep track of this.
