Closed: Pushed None Opened 8 years ago by jflory7.

=== Badge at a Glance ===

  • '''Badge Name''': BrickHack 2016 Open Source Winner
  • '''Badge Description''': Congrats! You were were a category winner in the Open Source category of BrickHack 2016.

=== When is it awarded? ===
Awarded at the end of BrickHack 2016 to winners in the Open Source category that Fedora is sponsoring.

=== Who awards it? ===
It will be a manually awarded event badge. Both decause and I should have privileges to award the badge.

=== How is it earned? ===
At BrickHack 2016, Fedora is sponsoring the Open Source category. As the sponsor of the category, we decide the rules and regulations for the category to determine how people can earn prizes and how to succeed in the category. Winners will be determined by a formula of sorts based on contribution to open source software. Winners will be participants that place at the top and earn a badge.

=== Why have this badge? ===
It is a useful tool gauge participation and determine long-term interest in Fedora.

=== What does it look like? ===
The proposed image is attached to this ticket. I borrowed the design from the Top 10 badge earners badge.

CCing mleonova and nb for feedback to make sure we can get this badge out in time before BrickHack. I have a feeling this one is probably more sensitive to feedback than the original BrickHack badge. :)

Hi Justin!

Right now it looks too busy and I don't think the colors of the medal are quite right for this badge.
What I would suggest is 1. get rid of the medal and ribbon. 2. there will be more space for the laurel and it won't touch the brick logo if you move it a bit outward. 3. for the colors, maybe it doesn't have to be golden, how about something from their official palette https://brickhack.io/?

Hope this helps ;)

Hey Maria, thanks for the feedback. I tried making some revisions and pulled from the color palette on their website. What are your thoughts on this revision? This definitely feels a lot cleaner than the previous iteration. :)

Great! This is much better!
Now I see that brick logo gets a bit lost on grey and since i don't want to give it an outline, I suggest putting it on the dark blue background. It's been done for the Fosdem attendee badge, so i think we're good. blue compliment orange nicely and we can even color the laurel the same colors.
What do you say?

I definitely think the dark blue background looks much nicer for this badge. Spacing and color palette look fantastic. I give my +1 for this as the final revision of the badge!

Nick also pushed this one to [https://badges.fedoraproject.org/badge/brickhack-2016-open-source-winner badges.fp.o]. There is a slight issue with the badge criteria field, but nb is going to follow up with threebean to correct that info.

Thanks mleonova '''again''' for the help, patience, and the real heavy-lifting of this badge, and thanks Nick for pushing it live!
