#373 Need a badge for the Fedora Security Team
Closed: pushed 7 years ago Opened 9 years ago by pjp.

Hello,

We need fedora badge design for the Fedora Security Team(FST).

-> https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Security_Team

This is to be used for recognizing the folks who contribute to the various FST activities.

Could someone from the fedora-badges camp help us with it?

Thank you.

There is already a security-related badge pending in #262. Can we focus on completing that one first? Feedback from security persons would be appreciated there.

Possible artwork concepts: see if they have a logo, a lock, a Fedora safe

Hey, @piratecat, the artwork looks awesome! I'd consider putting 2nd badger's vest on badger #1, and adding a sort of cool reflection to the glasses + make their outline thicker. What do you think?

As you adviced, I've edited the vest and glasses. Did you mean something like this?
Oh, and I took the vest from this web site and changed it a bit, is that OK? https://thenounproject.com/

The design looks okay. Maybe we could use the FST logo in the image, in place of Fedora one?

They have detailed terms of use and licensing on their site. We should run it through fedora-legal before using any content from their site.

Thank you.

Hey, @pjp, I think it's a good idea, but would def be too tiny on the badger. You will not be able to read the small font. How about we keep the general form of it and put the Fedora logo on the 'badge' shaped as the lock from FST logo you mentioned?

I think here we can create our own content just as easily - look at security vests on the internet and draw a shape similar to it, which will be your own, @piratecat.

Hope this helps!

I draw a new vest based on the photo you provided, hope it looks better now.
Also I wasn't sure which size of the logo would be more suitable, so I tried small, larger and the largest one. I can remove text from the third variant and just leave the fedora logo in the lock, if it's not readable enough.
What do you think about these variants?

I like this one the most, great work! Let's get rid of the stroke on the logo and add some to the sunglasses, and it will be perfect.

I'm not sure what does 'stroke on the logo' means. I just took the original logo plus the white background. Should I make the blue lines thinner - or even remove them leaving only white part + inner blue part?

Oh, I meant remove the blue outline

Hiya! I think the that the lock symbol and the Fedora logo are getting a little confusing. The badges are usually viewed at a pretty small size. I'd consider removing the lock completely. I'd like to see a version where it is zoomed a little, basically so we don't see the stomach, and we can make the Fedora logo slightly more visible. Also, can you try the sunglasses with a stroke on them? I'd up the stroke on the pocket and the zipper as well. Thanks!

Thanks for the idea, I'll try both variants: without stroke on the lock (as mleonova suggested) and a zoomed version without lock, let's see which one will look better.

So, I've made both variants and want to hear your thoughts about them.
As for my opinion, the second one looks better in the small size because the logo is more visible.

Hi @piratecat! Yeah, the one on the right does look better! The only thing left is to make outlines thicker according to badge guidelines: https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-badges/attachment/wiki/DesignResources/styleguide_6.a.png

Looks great! One last thing - we can lose the outline around Fedora badge, and it would be perfect!

Discussed in [https://meetbot.fedoraproject.org/fedora-meeting-1/2016-11-02/fedora_badges.2016-11-02-11.05.html 2016-10-03 meeting].

Also, another question, does the Security Team have a FAS group?

Whoops, think Maria meant to approve the artwork and not the badge definition. :) As far as the badge definition itself goes, we just need to know if there is a FAS group created for the Fedora Security Team. If not, we should request one in [https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure Fedora Infrastructure Pagure]. I'm not sure who the team lead is for the Security Team, but we should probably highlight their attention to this ticket.

It looks like nb pushed this badge earlier (he found the FAS group for automating the badge). Could you attach the YAML file for reference and close out this ticket, Nick? Thanks for your help on closing this one out!
