The code that counts the badges for this badge counts the fedmsg messages in datanommer's history.

It would take considerable work to get this straightened out. We would have to either:
1) Edit the fedmsg history so that those old badge.award messages don't appear in queries.
2) Add new capabilities to the badge awarder (fedbadges) so that it can count the actual number of badges in the tahrir database.

Neither of these seem worth it to me, but I'd be glad to help mentor someone if they want to take on the task. For now, I've changed the description of the badge to indicate that it is '"about" 50 badges' to help alleviate some of the concern about this.
