#28 Freshmaker in Fedora
Opened 5 years ago by ttomecek. Modified 5 years ago

  • Reach out to Factory 2 team (@jkaluza) and ask about what changes would be needed to have the service in Fedora

@lucarval @jkaluza , do you know what is the status of freshmaker in Fedora ? and how we can help to get it deployed ?

@cverna, I don't think it's deployed. If it is, it's not in working condition. I'm assuming you're asking from a container image point of view? There were some plans in the past to deploy Freshmaker in fedora to rebuild module builds, but these have been on hold for a while.

@lucarval , Yes I think it would be nice to use it for container builds. Would it be possible to deploy freshmaker in fedora infra openshift like greewave or waiverdb ?

@cverna, Freshmaker is already deployed in fedora infra fedora-infrastructure#6183. Although, it's not actively being used. The goal of that deployment was to use Freshmaker to rebuild modules. However, due to priorities this has been pushed back. AFAIK we still want to do that.

I'm assuming you want Freshmaker to rebuild container images affected by CVEs. If that's the case, we need to do quite a bit of changes in Freshmaker to make all that work. In the internal instance, it uses a couple of critical services for triggering rebuild (errata tool) and determining which images are affected (lightblue).

We'll need to work out a design to make all that work as expected. This would be the next step. I think it would be exciting to have this in fedora, but I want to make sure expectations are set correctly. Realistically, this will move a bit slow.

If you're willing to drive this effort, we're more than happy to provide guidance as needed.
