While Directory Server's existing password policy does do a lot of what pam_pwquality does, there are still many important missing features we should add to DS:
Also becoming popular for password checking is adding constraints for the user's telephone number and birthday. However these features would require a type of matching rule to process them correctly as they each can have multiple formats. This should probably be addressed in a different ticket.
