1. Proposed title of this feature request Allow RHDS to be setup using a DNS CNAME alias for General.FullMachineName 2. What is the nature and description of the request? Currently the RHDS Installation section "3.3. Typical Setup"[1] requires that the hostname is fully reverse-resolvable to the IP address. This request is to get the use of CNAMEs supported by RHDS. 3. List the functional requirements On an existing server where the IP is fully reverse-resolvable to the hostname and a CNAME pointing to the host, allow the installer to accept the CNAME: # setup-ds-admin.pl General.FullMachineName=cname.example.com NSS Certificates for this host should be generated with the '-8 ' parameter of certutil. 4. For each functional requirement listed, specify how Red Hat and the customer can test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented. After installation connect to the CNAME using ldapsearch and make sure it connects properly.
